We’re ready to start March Madness with another stellar dotNet Miami meeting. In the enterprise, mobile applications are becoming more critical. But how can we leverage our knowledge of .NET to build native mobile applications on OSX, Andriod, and Windows? Cecil Phillip will show us how Xamarin.Forms can give us a high-level of code resuse and leverage our knowledge of .Net to build great native mobile applications. Then, Peter David Faria will show us how to build fast and responsive applications an introduction to asynchronous programming. This will be another great night full of .NET goodness!

We’ll be meeting at Right Space 2 Meet. Right Space 2 Meet is a cowork facility that provides a collaborative community and a professional environment for entrepreneurs, freelancers and business professionals. It offers fully furnished offices, virtual offices, coworking spaces, conference facilities and event spaces. Right Space 2 Meet is located at 100 Miracle Mile Suite #200 in Coral Gables.

You can park at either the metered parking or one of the two the public parking garages located at: 51 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134 or 245 Andalusia Avenue, Coral Gables, FL. Either parking lot is about a dollar an hour and a short walk to the SunTrust building. DO NOT park in the SunTrust building parking as you will most likely be towed.

And Don’t Miss the After Party…

Because we don’t want the fun to stop when the meeting is over we’ll be at Miller’s Ale House on Miracle Mile (101 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables) for food and networking. All are welcome.

Building Mobile Solutions with Xamarin.Forms

Everyone wants a mobile application, but supporting each of the major platforms isn’t a trivial task. Ramping up multiple programming languages and duplicated logic per platform are major concerns that need to be addressed. With Xamarin.Forms, developers can build native mobile applications using the power of .NET while achieving a high level of code reuse. In this session, we’ll explore the core features of Xamarin.Forms and see what it takes to get started building quality native apps.

An Introduction to Asynchronous Programming

How would you like to increase the capacity of your .NET website, or improve the responsiveness of your Windows apps? With the asynchronous functionality built into .NET 4.5, you can do it with very little effort. This introductory talk will begin by explaining the difference between asynchronous and multi-threaded code, and how you can use this understanding to build fast and responsive applications.

Peter David Faria is a .NET/Full-stack developer working at Ultimate Software in Weston, FL. He is passionate about delivering top-quality software, and is always working to become a better developer. He works mainly with C# and JavaScript, with a little Ruby and Bash here and there.
