GeekiWood is geared to teens — especially young women — with the goal to inspire them to explore technology, science, math, engineering and the arts.

Presenters and workshop leaders are film/movie producers, artists and other professionals who blend the magic of film and television with real science.

It’s a fun-filled, family-friendly event that will appeal to any teen who watches TV, movies, uses a computer or a cell phone — without regard to race or economic status.

•     The real world of DNA by the Miami-Dade Police Forensics Bureau
•     Microsoft will teach how to make a movie on your computer and turn it into a game

•     White Hat Hacking
•     Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard will examine Helicopter Rescues: Reality vs Hollywood
