Business leaders of independent software vendor organizations (ISVs) face increasing challenges in today’s software market. Many companies that have historically bought packaged software solutions are evaluating software as a service (SaaS) and cloud-backed software solutions to replace their legacy software.

This new cloud market presents tremendous opportunity for the business leaders of established ISVs. Capturing that strategic opportunity brings not just technical changes, but fundamental shifts to your company’s business model, and a platform decision is a key component of that shift.

Join this event to learn from your peers in the industry that have leveraged the benefits of the cloud to build a successful business. You’ll hear from owners and leaders of successful software businesses about best practices and lessons learned, and gain insight about the cloud opportunity for a software business. This event is focused on business strategy, and is not a technical learning event.

Agenda

Cloud Business and Cost Models
Cloud computing is less a technological revolution as it is a business revolution. In this session we’ll look at trends that are driving cloud computing and the opportunities these bring to ISV organizations to compete in the marketplace. We’ll see how cloud computing can change an ISV’s business model in potentially radical new ways and discuss concrete ways your business can grow in the modern world of software.

Compliance, Security and Trust
Many of your customers may be demanding cloud solutions right now, but others may be hanging back simply because of security concerns. So how can you build a successful software business in the cloud? The first step is to build on top of a trustworthy platform. What happens next is up to you. Learn how other ISVs have built their software to take advantage of Windows Azure’s security model, and how they’ve positioned and addressed their customer concerns about cloud security and compliance.

Lunch and Networking

Extending Your Reach with SharePoint and Office
In this session we’ll delve into the details of how you can leverage app-building for SharePoint and Office to extend the reach of your current software offerings. Whether your company writes shrinkwrapped software installed on premises or offers SaaS, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Office can be used as a platform for additional exposure – both from a marketing and a revenue generation perspective. Furthermore, the Office and SharePoint platform provide a way to add additional functionality within your software without writing it all from scratch. Don’t miss this session to envision ways you can leverage the Microsoft Office/SharePoint platform within your own software products.

Break

The Cloud OS Opportunity
In this session we’ll look at how an ISV can deploy multi-tenant software services without boundaries. Leveraging the Microsoft Cloud O/S allows you to offer your customers a consistent, integrated experience between multiple devices and multiple data sources of any size, anywhere. Move workloads with maximum flexibility. Scale up or scale down based on your customers‘ business needs with a combination of Windows Server 2012, Systems Center 2012 and Windows Azure.
