Staging environments are an essential part of the development cycle. In this stage the code will be tested in the exact same conditions as it would in production. There are a lot of tools out there for testing correctness, behavior, even user interactions. The development environment is too slow to test anything more complex than code units. You also don’t want to test the app under load in production. A staging environment allows to test all these things and makes the deployment more secure and reliable.

In this talk Angel & Juan are going to cover the importance of having a proper staging environment, explain high level concepts about setting up the environment, and demonstrate these with tools like Chef, Knife, and Cloud Services.

Angel is an enthusiastic Web Developer experienced in several scripting languages. Currently he is working as a Software Engineer for Fotobar. He loves coding best practices, has a focus on full stack development with PHP, and is a Laravel fanboy. Angel is passionate about programming, math, uncovering new challenges, and PHP & general FOSS communities. Angel is ready to write code at any time, just ask him to solve a problem!

Juan is currently a Software Engineer for Polaroid Fotobar. His passion for computers and programming came for the fears surrounding the Y2K. Since the early 2000′s He has been a loyal Linux User (tried 20+ distros) and currently find himself installing Ubuntu everywhere. In his early beginnings, he got into the IT world working as a Network Tech and SysAdmin at a number of different  companies, from small to multinational. Even though IT was his first focus into the industry, he was always attracted to Security and Programming.

Today he finds himself writing mostly JS, some Python, doing devops from time to time, and playing with nodebots !
