Nancy Dahlberg, author of The Starting Gate is a Miami Herald business writer and editor with a passion for entrepreneurship and what makes entrepreneurs tick. She also coordinates the Miami Herald Business Plan Challenge, an annual contest for entrepreneurs in South Florida.

Her business specialties include entrepreneurship, the startup culture and Miami’s local tech community, small business, economy, personal finance, real estate and consumer issues. Jason Ibarra is a life-long entrepreneur, 12 year digital marketer and technology / digital marketing recruiter.

Starting as the first employee and ending as the Agency Director, Jason dedicated eight years to building South Florida internet marketing agency Exults at an average growth rate of 250% year over year. As part of his commitment to South Florida’s entrepreneurial and technology community he spends time in advisory and director roles on the boards of TEDxMiami and SFIMA, the South Florida Interactive Marketing Association.

He’s no stranger to what it means to be lean, in 2012 he co-founded HalfOffDrinks.com a growth hacked Groupon clone focused on bars and nightlife which grew to 10,000 subscribers in Miami within three months, before he set the project aside to join partners in his current early stage startup Recovery Passport.

A native of South Florida, Jason is a seafood lover who prefers to dive in and chase his dinner. His favorite pastime, spearfishing reflects his attitude in life to “dive in and go after what he wants.”

In 2013 Jason became a new Father to son, Callid Corvis Ibarra and he says seeing Callid breathe the same air we all breathe drives him more than ever to make a difference in this World.
