Members of multiple tech communities in South Florida have teamed up to put on the first-ever  Tech Weekend @ The Dolphins and Tech Networking @ The Dolphins events.  The Tech Weekend event will take place at SunLife Stadium on Oct 25-26, and the networking event will happen during the Thursday night game on Nov 13.

Tech Weekend @ The Dolphins will offer multiple training courses, including IT and coding, a hackathon called FinTank where software developers try to create innovative apps to help the team, a Teachathon where the community has teamed with Miami-Dade public schools to offer training for kids currently enrolled in the IT Program, and finally space at the stadium for local users groups to meet.

“This event is rapidly attracting support from across the tech landscape as evidenced by Tery Howard, CTO of the Dolphins, volunteering to be the keynote speaker,” said Frank Haggar, lead organizer of the event.   “We have gained support from the Miami Dolphins with use of their stadium, corporate sponsors, such as Microsoft and Citrix, community building organizations, such as The Knight Foundation, educators, such as Miami-Dade public schools and WynCode.  The local users’ groups have been extremely involved, grabbing available meeting slots during the event”.

Ben Greaves, Business Development for the Miami Dolphins explained, “The Dolphins are focused on improvements to the stadium that include technological innovations.  Sponsoring a tech event at the stadium shows we’re focused on the future, which means focused on tech, and that makes us all #StrongerTogether.  Tery Howard’s keynote shows our commitment to technology as we improve the facility for our fans and players.”

Tech Networking @ The Dolphins will take place before and during the rematch of the Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills on Nov 13th.   Sponsors of the Tech Weekend will be distributing hundreds of tickets to attendees of the Tech Weekend, who can all reunite for a social event and be part of the game that is nationally televised on Thursday Night Football.

IT Pro Camp’s Alex Funkhouser said: “The unity of the S. Fla professionals, including the CIO Council, Miami-Dade schools and more is shown in the breadth of learning options for attendees of this free event.  The weekend of learning is topped off with a game-day social event on Thursday Night’s Tech Networking @ The Dolphins.”

All of the event’s organization is performed by volunteers and the event’s official producer is IT Pro Camp, a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.  To learn more about the event, the sponsors and registering to attend, please visit http://www.thefintank.com
